The Changing Geopolitics of the Caucasus

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, and the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies brought together more than 50 experts from the South Caucasus, Europe, Asia, and the United States in Tbilisi for an in-depth discussion of the Changing Geopolitics of the Caucasus Region on 28-29 June 2016.

The conference was designed to look beyond the usual one-dimensional perception of the Caucasus region as a theater for competition between Russia and the West.  Participants from think tanks, government, and the business community explored trends in the region and the impact of developments in the Middle East, Ukraine, and the European Union, as well as the roles of Iran, Turkey, China, Russia, and the United States.
