Presentation of the Study: Perspectives of Societal Security in Georgia

"Perspectives of Societal Security in Georgia’ - During the presentation of the study participants discussed securitization of poverty and inequality in the Georgian political reality.

This is directly related to the strength of the traditional security paradigm in political and academic circles, the dominance of neoliberal economic ideology, and the deficit of preventive policies. Threats related to social inequality in Georgia include fragmentation of society, increased risk of confrontation within society, weakened role of the state as the main unifying institution, and decreased public confidence in the defense forces in the long run.
