Regional Lab 2018

Regional Lab 2018: Young leaders for a Social and Democratic South Caucasus gathered active young leaders from all three South Caucasus countries in July, Kvareli Training Center, Kakheti. It provided an opportunity to share experience, gain new skills and knowledge and enjoy the company of experts and activists from Germany, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. Regional lab served as platform for the exchange of ideas and knowledge in order to address the social and democratic challenges the region faces.

Innovative formats and inclusive methods promoted new ideas and approaches.
Participants discussed changes and development on the path of independence, in terms of the anniversary of 100 years of independence  of all three South Caucasus countries. Focusing on the questions: how independent South Caucasus  countries are in 2018? Moreover, political/civic engagement was the key topic of the event.  Mostly the dominant narratives were that some of the youngsters consider themselves as a minority in terms of values in their own countries; they doubt if youngsters can make difference. Participants underlined low female representation in politics.

Another important part of the regional lab was three parallel workshop, on labor rights, Social Justice and Education and corruption and government accountability, which also addressed the question Why do we need a state and why does it have to be social.

Regional lab 2018 contributed to the development of a set of values in terms of inclusion, social justices, civic activism, political participation and highlighted the urgent topics the youth face in the region.
